Apparently, these journalists were paid by the US government to put anti-Cuba things in the media.
Further down in the article is this:
"... a row erupted in Argentina between Cuban President Fidel Castro and Juan Manuel Cao, a reporter for Miami's Spanish-language Channel 41.
Mr Cao put Mr Castro on the spot and the president replied by asking if anyone was paying him to ask that question.
Mr Cao has now admitted being paid by the US government, the Herald reports."
They've lost their jobs now, but I think they've already made a neat little pile.

I like the fact that the Miami Herald acted in principle in sacking these journalists.
But given how staunchly anti-Castro Miami's Cuban community is, I can bet those journalists would have written the exact same things even without the monetary payments.
Just wait for the biggest street party in Miami the day Castro pops off.
One thing I can gauge from all this is that what was done once can be done again. Perhaps the US Govt. still pays Journalist to write shit about 9/11.
I just saw a little documentary called "Loose Change" about 9/11. The documentary shows a defence proposal against Cuba stating that the US Govt. should stage fake attacks in the Guantanamo Bay and a fake plane crash near Florida, so they can get a cause for assault on Cuba.
Do check out the documentary. It's a good take on the 9/11 issue.
